Teaching and Empowerment for the Könchog Chidu Ngöndro
Albuquerque KTC is very pleased to host a rare and important empowerment and teaching on the Ngöndro* aspect of Könchog Chidu , by The Venerable Lama Tashi Dondup.
Könchog Chidu is a form of Guru Yoga, and involves four aspects of Padmasambhava’s activities. As such, four separate empowerments are generally required for this practice: the "inner", "outer", "secret", and "very secret" empowerments.
In this visit, Lama Tashi will introduce the practice, provide detailed instructions on how to perform the ngöndro*, and grant the first two empowerments (inner and outer). The teachings will include instructions on mudras (hand gestures) and on the use of the traditional offering mandala plate.
For those practicing the common ngöndro, Lama Tashi's teaching presents an excellent opportunity for detailed instructions on how to perform the prostrations, Vajrasattva recitation, mandala offering, and guru yoga elements. Participants are not required to take the Könchog Chidu empowerment to attend the teachings.
The Albuquerque KTC is very fortunate to be granted access to these teachings. Lama Tashi's visit arose from the great kindness and blessings of our principal sprititual guide, the very venerable Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, abbot of KTD monastery. During a previous visit to the Alberquerque KTC, Rinpoche spoke about the Könchog Chidu teachings. Rinpoche related this to Lama Tashi, and requested that he teach the Könchog Chidu to our sangha.
Lama Tashi has made a commitment to return to KTC in the future, to grant the third and fourth empowerments, and provide teachings on the Könchog Chidu sadhana, to those who have completed the Könchog Chidu ngöndro.

About Könchog Chidu
The Könchog Chidu sadhana is a Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) practice of the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Known for its short length, simplicity, and profundity, the practice, which translates to "Embodiment of the Precious Ones", is a terma revealed by Terton Rigdzin Jatson Nyingpo (1585-1656). This practice has been transmitted from Lama to student in an unbroken lineage for over 300 years. As such, it is a genuine, authentic, and highly respected, tantric practice.
The Konchok Chidu empowerment transmits a very direct and powerful connection to Guru Rinpoche. We are extremely fortunate to have this opporunity to receive this precious oral transmission and teaching from this greatly esteemed Kagyu master.
