The true realization of mind, the all-pervasive identity of the definitive secret,
Is difficult to realize through other long-lasting paths;
Yet, you reveal it effortlessly, like pointing to it with your finger —
To the illustrious Gampopa and the masters of the Practice Lineage, I bow down.
— Dakpo Tashi Namgyal
Study/Discussion Series: The Three Vehicles of Buddhist Practice
Albuquerque KTC's dicussion series is based on a curriculum designed by The Dzogchen Ponlob Rinpoche for use by the KTCs in North America, using a supplemental reading list prepared by Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin, who teaches at our home center, Karma Triyana Dharmachakra. The curriculum covers all aspects of Buddhist thought, from the life and earliest teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, through teachings on emptiness and Buddha Nature in Indian Mahayana (“great vehicle”) Buddhism, to a general introduction of the Vajrayana (the “indestructable vehicle” of Tibetan Buddhism) from the viewpoint of the Karma Kagyu Lineage. Being primarily concerned with Buddhist practice rather than abstract thought, the curriculum concentrates on how these teachings arise out of and support our meditation practice, and how we can integrate them into our everyday lives.
The reading list below was prepared as a list of supplemental readings for discussion series. It contains books and other materials used in the discussion sessions and other basic reference works, and represents reputable sources recommended by Tibetan teachers that go beyond much of the introductory literature on Buddhism frequently used in the West.
