The 17th Karmapa at KTD
Founded in 1982, the Albuquerque Karma Tegsum Chöling (KTC) is an affiliate center of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD), the North American seat of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa, under the spiritual guidance of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche .
The center:
  • Provides an extraordinary space in which we maintain regular group and individual practice;
  • Invites lineage teachers for both public introductory and more detailed teachings;
  • Offers basic instruction in meditation and fundamentals of Tibetan Buddhism;
  • Encourages the study and discussion of Buddhist topics; and
  • Gives its members the opportunity to maintain a personal connection with one of the world's oldest and most respected spiritual traditions.
Milarepa, the best-known Kagyu yogi
Beginning meditation instruction is available Wednesday evenings, and at other times by arrangement. An introductory series of dharma classes is given periodically, in addition to an ongoing informal discussion series. The center also maintains a library of books on Tibetan Buddhism, as well as audio and video recordings of teachings. Please contact us for information on the availability of these materials for check-out.
In our activities, we try to place the emphasis on our direct connection with the Karmapa and the Karma Kagyu Lineage, and on practice, which are closely related. In the words of the Mahamudra Lineage Supplication, "the lama opens the door to the profound oral teachings." The center's ability to maintain this connection and practice depends on the support and participation of practitioners. We invite you to visit the Albuquerque KTC and if you find our work valuable, to join the center as a member.
